Brief History of LES JAPAN

1971
Patent Licensing Study Group as a nucleus of LES Japan was established with 8 members in July.
1972
LES Japan is founded as an authorized body with 14 members on July 1. International LES Conference Tokyo '72, September 26 & 27.
1973
LES Japan joins LES International at its establishment.
1975
LES International Symposium Tokyo '75, May 12-14.
Membership passed the 100 mark.
1977
Mr. M. Okano was elected as the President of LES International.
LES International Symposium Tokyo '77, November 14-16.
1978
LES Japan Summer Symposium was started near Mt. Fuji.
1982
10th Anniversary of LES Japan & 5th Summer Symposium in Karuizawa.
1983
International Delegates Meeting and LES International Seminar, November 6-8.
1985
Mrs. M. Ariga was elected as the President of LES International.
LES International Conference & Delegates Meeting '85, May 29 & 30.
Membership passed the 200 mark.
1987
1987 15th Anniversary Summer Symposium inKiso-Fukushima.
1989
Mrs. M. Ariga received the Gold Medal from LESI.
1991
1991 Membership passed the 300 mark.
1992
Dr. A. Mifune was the President of LES International.
LESI Expanded Executive Committee Meeting, Tokyo, January 24-26.
20th Anniversary Summer Symposium inNagasaki.
1994
Membership passed the 400 mark.
1996
"Winds from Japan," an English LESJ newsletter, started.
1997
Joint Symposium in Xian, China (June).
25th Anniversary Summer Symposium at Hakodate-Ohnuma, Hokkaido.
1998
Organization Committee for 2002 Osaka Conference started.
1999
Membership passed the 500 mark.
Joint Symposium in Malaysia (June).
2000
Membership was 544 at the end of June.
2002
LES International Conference was held April in Osaka. About 700 participants representing 47 countries and including 257 from Japan.
2003
Dr. Akira Mifune received the Gold Medal from LESI in Oslo. The Train the Trainer Session was held December in Tokyo. Membership marked 600 by the year end.
2007
Mr. C. Fukuda was elected as the President of LES International.
2012
LES Asia Pacific Regional Conference was held in Tokyo on September 3rd and 4th,2012.
LES Japan Student Business Plan Competition was held in Tokyo on September 3rd, 2012 (at the same venue as the Asia Pacific Regional Conference).
2016
Mr. I. Nakatomi was elected as the Vice President of LES International.
2019
LES International Conference was held in Yokohama from May 26th to 28th, 2019.
2022
Mr. I. Nakatomi was elected as the President of LES International.
